The North-African nation of Tunisia made their debut at the 3rd contest held in Moscow. A first placed finish in the semi-final promised much, but in the end delivered very little. Tunisia was unable to carry over this support to the final and they fell to a disappointing 22nd place. Since then 5 straight eliminations have followed for Tunisia, and they decided to withdraw from the ninth edition of the contest held in Bratislava. The country would then make their return in the 11th edition in
